Speaker 1:

You're quasi-evil, you're semi-evil. You're the margarine of evil. You're the Diet Coke of evil. Just one calorie, not evil enough.

Speaker 2:

All right, thank you for listening to the Greatest Non-Hits. I'm Chris and playing a riff from the song Snake Charmer from Rage Against the Machine's second album, evil Empire is my co-host, tim.

Speaker 2:

Thank you so much for tuning in today. And this is Evil Empire, the second studio album by the American rock band Rage Against the Machine, from Wikipedia, released on April 16, 1996 by Epic Records. This has a couple of songs on it that we all know. I mean by far the biggest song, bulls on Parade. All right, I think it's like the second or third track on this one, and we've all heard that one. A second song that was also released as a single. There are really three songs released as a single Bulls on Parade, of course, people of the Sun and Viet Now, and I think the order the first three songs is People of the Sun, bulls on Parade, vietnam, something like that. But what we're going to do, as always, is listen to all the songs on the album. Rank the top three non-hits at the end.

Speaker 2:

So, in terms of my origin story, I've been listening to this one for a while. I actually got into it, probably like in the mid-2000s, maybe about 10 years after it was released. I was a late bloomer to this band, but man, clearly an anti-authoritarian kind of a message, I mean blatant, it's right in your face, it can't be mistaken and so. But that's the MO. They're so committed, they're so into their convictions and it comes through in the music Interesting, thought-provoking lyrics. They have a history of a lot of different activism for anything that's anti-authoritarian. So all good stuff. We're not going to get into the political side of it, Of course. We're going to do our own thing. We're going to get stupid. We're going to get silly. We're going to listen to all the songs and we've got a bunch of stupid sound clips. We're going to have to all the songs and we've got a bunch of stupid sound clips. We're going to have a lot of fun with this and also, you know, celebrate a kick-ass album. You know, not just the rock and music.

Speaker 2:

But we'll get into the lyrics We'll get into the deepness of it, but I think we can do two things at once. You know, have fun with it as well, although I mean we'll be respectful for sure. But uh, um, we're gonna. It's gonna be a good show. We're really stoked to do it, we're we're both big fans of the band. The lineup is, uh, zach della roccia on vocals, tom arello on guitar, of course, tim Comerford on bass and then my favorite, brad Wilk on drums.

Speaker 5:

No man, you can't talk to Brad. I can't talk to Brad. No one knows who Brad is.

Speaker 2:

So anyway, yeah, that was actually Dana Carvey from the movie Moving Stupid movie, but that part's hilarious, I liked it. So, anyway, what else can we say? There's how many songs? There's 11 songs on here. Don Rodeo's good. For some reason I don't know if it strikes me as a hit, but it wasn't even released as a single. So I mean, we're going to count that as a non-hit. There's a lot of people who contributed to this as well.

Speaker 2:

Rage Against the Machine, co-produced Brendan O'Brien production so yeah, I guess yeah, he's worked with a lot of people Soundgarden, acdc, pearl Jam so I'm sure you know. Great job, brendan. Awesome awesome album. Let's see who else Andy Wallace mixing, nick Didia engineering. Shout out to Nick Dave Ratt Paul.

Speaker 4:

Kosky.

Speaker 2:

Bob Ludwig Mastering recording all that, a lot of mastering going on.

Speaker 7:

Wait just a minute.

Speaker 4:

So, anyway, I've got some artwork.

Speaker 2:

Pretty funky album cover. It's got like a picture of a kid, looks like a young Superman, but with an E for Evil Empire, with a black cape, red shirt, white and black stripes. So it's kind of superhero, macho man type A kind of thing. The title Evil Empire came from a speech by Ronald.

Speaker 2:

Reagan in the 80s as he addressed the Soviet Union as the evil empire. Of course I think they're sort of twisting that around and trying to point out the irony of Reagan's statements when we were doing a bunch of shit all over, but it's not just directed towards the US. It's just. I mean, a lot of the songs borrow from history. People of the Sun talks about oppression, the decimation of the whole. I don't know, the Spanish against the Mayans or maybe the opposite Mayans against the Spanish Tim will give us the lowdown on that.

Speaker 2:

He's a history guy. What else can we say here? Yeah, epic Records, the genre you know it mixes a lot of different things. There's rap, there's metal. There's rap metal, there's alternative. I want to say there's a little bit of grunge here and there. They're coming off of their debut album and then Streets of Los Angeles, the third album. That was Tim's first exposure, or Battle of Los Angeles, that's what it is so anyway, we'll get into that as well.

Speaker 2:

You know what else can we say? Shout out to the runners Thank you so much for listening. Keep continuing to listen to our podcasts. We love it. We hope you do too. And shout out to some of the sponsors Makoko, of course. Nicaraguan Blend, happy Fun Ball, still legal in 16 states. Thank you for being a proud sponsor of the show. What else have we got on the agenda here? Tim and I are going to look through the albums, see if we can get some more of this ilk or maybe go less heavy, but this is a heaviness that Tim can get into. So we're both. I'm excited for it. So, without further ado, he's getting his book ready. He's getting all organized, putting the headset on. He can't wait to talk here. He is my neighbor, tim. How you doing bud?

Speaker 8:

Oh, so much rage.

Speaker 2:

You got a lot of rage, don't you? Yes?

Speaker 8:

I mean it's there, it's really there.

Speaker 7:

I'm untethered and my rage knows no bounds.

Speaker 8:

Yeah, Battle of Los Angeles was when I guess I was what? 16 17, you're angsty. You know rage against machine. Did I understand everything they were saying? No, did I later have to re-listen and re-pontificate where they were going with these lyrics and how maybe fringe they are for a lot of people? Anti-establishment shouldn't be such a fringe thing and it needs to be talked about. Talk amongst yourselves here.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, no, I agree, they're edgy. This is as edgy as it gets, and so of course you know it takes a while to warm up to it, and what I was saying before is that the more you listen to it, the more it sinks in. It's. It's a little harsh, you know, in the beginning, you know, but the more you listen to it, the the more you you kind of get it. You You've got to think Carl Spackler from Caddyshack, you know.

Speaker 6:

It's a little harsh.

Speaker 2:

It is.

Speaker 8:

I was trying to think up my own little Zach DeLaRocca rhyme of what my political beliefs are, but it came. It was on the tip of my tongue. I was kind of wrapping my little day out with this Right on as an exercise. But no, I didn't write anything down for you all to experience, kind of just.

Speaker 2:

Well no I mean, if you're listening, you've got your own opinions and listen. We love to hear them. If you ever want to drop us a line at greatestnonhitscom, you can email us the man. You can shout out Down with the man. That's right. Yeah, give us a shout out anytime, man. But any last words before we start listening to the album.

Speaker 8:

Yeah, anti-establishment.

Speaker 2:

Keep that in mind All right, of course, anti-authoritarianism, all that stuff.

Speaker 8:

Justice. You know, no, man, you can't talk to Brad. Drummer. The drummer he's yeah, is there a Nixon? There's a Nixon part of this quote. Hold on, let's let it ride.

Speaker 5:

Nixon knew I can't talk to Brad. No one knows who Brad is man.

Speaker 10:

I love him. He's beautiful. I can't get close to him. Shit man. Nixon knew man. I don't even know my political affiliation.

Speaker 8:

Nixon knew, I don't even know, yeah, exactly what is this band's political affiliation Anarchy.

Speaker 2:

Well you know a lot of the times we're living in anarchy and just don't accept it.

Speaker 8:

I think yeah, you think they're. Yeah, I think they want to Center left?

Speaker 2:

No, I don't know.

Speaker 8:

I don't think they have the best plan to build it back. What they are about is calling out the injustice and the what's the right word. They're trying to right the wrongs of the past by calling it out Authoritarian dictators.

Speaker 2:

How do you go?

Speaker 8:

I mean, they're talking about centuries back as well.

Speaker 2:

So but it's happening right now. I mean, they have like shit all over it. Does you know?

Speaker 8:

people that are aligned with nature and people that uh want to, you know, get you into the big cities and control the food supply.

Speaker 4:

Maybe you know, all right, like what the fuck is he talking about?

Speaker 2:

where is that I?

Speaker 6:

got it you got.

Speaker 2:

What the fuck are you talking about?

Speaker 8:

I don't know you got it you got it.

Speaker 2:

What the fuck?

Speaker 4:

the fuck is he talking about?

Speaker 8:

well, hey, it's a thing, look it up.

Speaker 1:

But yeah, I hear you, it's uh how ironic all right, all right.

Speaker 2:

So, people of the sun, this is the first song here we go, so from Geniuscom. It's written in dedication to the original inhabitants of Mexico Slaughtered by Spanish conquistadors.

Speaker 8:

Okay, that's oh Tet. Shout out to McNamara, shout out to the Buckeyes. Anti-shout is a natural.

Speaker 7:

Round and round and round, chaotic.

Speaker 2:

I'm not going to continue.

Speaker 6:

Ah, that feels, I feel, I feel better.

Speaker 8:

I like the bongos. Is that Brad Brad on the bongos? No man.

Speaker 2:

That is Brad on the bongos.

Speaker 5:

You can't talk to Brad. Let's see your rap Stick over.

Speaker 10:

Speaker 2:

Speaker 8:

Speaker 2:

Second song bulls on parade a hit, let's go. Shout out to all the evil ones out there. Shout out to Dr Evil.

Speaker 1:

Speaker 9:

We're winning now.

Speaker 8:

We're winning. Now I'm it. Now he's got the microphone, drop it on, copy yo.

Speaker 2:

Five-sided fist again. I love it.

Speaker 7:

What is he talking about?

Speaker 1:

We'll do it, live, fuck it.

Speaker 6:

It's happening.

Speaker 2:

Rally around the family.

Speaker 1:

Don't mess with the family, or else you're gonna get jacked bitch.

Speaker 7:

You bitch, you got jacked bitch used to be a library there.

Speaker 8:

There used to be a library there Military industrial Do it live.

Speaker 7:

Are you some kind of freak?

Speaker 2:

Okay, oh, dr Evil's getting a little worn out.

Speaker 1:

Okay, you're quasi evil. Honestly, throw me a bone here this is an amazing guitar solo.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, it is it's kind of like scratching with a guitar I have one simple request request Scratchy, scratchy lasers with sharks.

Speaker 1:

And that is to have sharks with frickin' laser beams attached to their heads.

Speaker 2:

Every anti-authoritarian's nightmare right.

Speaker 8:

I've contained my rage for as long as possible. Hey, brad, brad is awesome. Yeah, for sure.

Speaker 11:

Crushed it.

Speaker 6:

But I shall unleash my fury.

Speaker 2:

They're all in the pocket together. They play really well together.

Speaker 8:

Shout out to Dennis Holy Sonny Lots of cymbals In society that you should be following, but also the drum cymbals are good.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, he is kind of shy with the symbols.

Speaker 7:

Upon you like the crashing of a thousand waves be gone, vile man be gone from me.

Speaker 8:

Shout out Dennis, Thank you. Thank you, Dennis.

Speaker 2:

Thank you, Dennis.

Speaker 8:

Don't buy a used car, a starter car for your daughter. With Dennis as the salesman here, exactly what do we?

Speaker 6:

got Vietnam.

Speaker 2:

Yeah.

Speaker 6:

Ready.

Speaker 8:

Well, first, you know, I definitely you know, pay homage to uh. I want to pay homage to my research I did Vietnam, uh, oh yeah, so I see you like a thesis.

Speaker 8:

uh, went through all the presidents, the Vietnam through political cartoons. It was a great, uh great paper. So you know, I know what you're saying, zach, I know what you're saying, band, and you know why. More conflicts? What is this? Let's go, but we gotta, we gotta undo the points of contention of previous wars to understand future wars yeah, check out the big brain on uh on tim there okay, there you go all right all right yeah I'm down with that all right, uh, any last words.

Speaker 2:

okay, here's Vietnam, vietnam.

Speaker 8:

You also have a? Yeah, don't you have a?

Speaker 2:

Well, my observation with this song is that this riff is like the wanton song. This is like Zeppelin Wow, wow.

Speaker 8:

Should we hear that ISO? Yeah, yeah, whoa, oh, oh, whoa, oh wrong, it's the lip. You just hit the lip on that one I did, brother, holy Crash. Wow, it's the lip. You just hit the lip on that one, brother. Holy snikies.

Speaker 7:

Nicely done. Wait, how did you?

Speaker 8:

Well, do it live. How did you find that your riff brain just picked that up out?

Speaker 2:

of nowhere. Yes, my riff brain picked it up. That's pretty good. I've heard the Wanton song a bunch of times. When I heard this I was like, oh, I get it. What the hell. This song is great. Shut down, the devil's sound Programs will free it now.

Speaker 7:

Shut down the devil's sound, dear, fuck it. Nah, fuck it.

Speaker 2:

Turn it off Beer is your only guide on the radio. Nah, fuck it. The cool thing about that is that this is fashion in American media, ie guys like Bill O'Reilly.

Speaker 8:

Yeah, hey.

Speaker 7:

That's why it's like do it live.

Speaker 2:

It's a play on how modern media mimics that of the partiest era of politics, the media that led to the American public and doesn't send troops to China, okay. And they even say one of the songs main riff is oh, wow, okay, this is from. I did get that on my own really. Yeah, it's kind of odd. I did get that Really. Yeah, it's kind of odd when you know the one song is always right.

Speaker 8:

Fear and love. Alright, it's a spectrum.

Speaker 2:

It's all the world chairs. The church is like sad Also.

Speaker 8:

We should talk about how the road to good intention is paved with hell. What is it? Hell is paved with good intention. What is it? You know what I'm?

Speaker 2:

saying yeah, okay, yeah, I mean.

Speaker 8:

I mean we build jails and churches out of seemingly good ideas. But I mean, I don't know, I get it.

Speaker 12:

What the fuck is he talking about? Fuck?

Speaker 8:

It's just ironic.

Speaker 1:

How ironic yeah.

Speaker 8:

I like this one. I mean it's definitely, it's a hit.

Speaker 2:

We're calling it a hit. It's releasing a single.

Speaker 8:

I don't directly remember it from the radio, but I mean it's a single and it was heavy play. Oh, guillotine, Okay, your savior, my guillotine crosses and kerosene.

Speaker 4:

There's your only God Fear and love.

Speaker 9:

Fear is in the negative energy spectrum and love is in the positive energy spectrum.

Speaker 2:

Donnie Darko right. Donnie Darko yeah, shout out to the Darko heads out there. All right, so this is Revolving.

Speaker 8:

I love this intro. Are you here with us? Is everybody here At?

the place you call here and now. Say it first we support your war of terror.

Speaker 10:

Shots for air.

Speaker 8:

I have a double meaning here with this one. This is Sure.

Speaker 2:

So this song could be referring to a pattern of domestic abuse like a revolving door. It could also be about a woman who thinks about killing her abusive husband with a revolver. It may have a double meaning. I'm a genius.

Speaker 8:

The meaning is circular.

Speaker 2:

They go around the block. That's right. There was more than a word.

Speaker 1:

Honestly throw me a Sorry.

Speaker 9:

Might be that was me, a prize fighter, throw me. Sorry. Might be that was me. Yeah, he's a prize fighter, a prize fighter.

Speaker 3:

He bought rings like Tyson. Make me come back for him now he's swinging, pay attention, he's the champion, pay attention. I don't have all night shout out to Mike Tyson, make me come back for him, pay attention. I don't have all night Shout out to Mike Tyson Don't make me come back for him.

Speaker 8:

Speaker 10:

There's more Pictures of fields without fences A spotless domain.

Speaker 6:

Hides festering hopes. She's certain there's more.

Speaker 10:

Pictures of fields without fences. Her body numbs as he approaches the door.

Speaker 1:

As he approaches the door. Are they ill-tempered?

Speaker 9:

Absolutely. That's a start.

Speaker 8:

That's a starch, it's a revolver, you know.

Speaker 9:

Mothers, fathers, sons, daughters.

Speaker 1:

All I asked for was a frickin' rotating chair. Okay, Are they ill-tempered? We're okay.

Speaker 2:

All right, Tom Morello Put the stamp on it, oh yeah, stamp approval here Okay.

Speaker 1:

You're quasi-evil.

Speaker 8:

Oh, it's like a rotating chair.

Speaker 6:

Okay, okay, okay, ah, that, Ah, that feels, that feels better.

Speaker 2:

Oh no, Another Santa.

Speaker 11:

Round and round.

Speaker 8:

We're not letting you off the hook that easy.

Speaker 9:

Tune back in wake up.

Speaker 2:

Speaker 8:

I have contained my rage for as long as possible.

Speaker 2:

Okay, wow, that was that song was like about a minute and a half too. As long as possible. Okay, Wow, that was that song was like about a minute and a half too long, I think.

Speaker 8:

Yeah, it went for another, another dip.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, it just seems like a little filler.

Speaker 8:

It went for another little dip in the pool. Anyway, should we, should we, have some more Dr Dr Evil? You know it is about combating the evil empire. It really is, and I think they do that well here.

Speaker 1:

Getting a little afraid. I need an old priest and a young priest. The power of Christ compels you.

Speaker 2:

All right, that was a great segue to Snake Charmer. This is the song you did.

Speaker 8:

I was going to do a little on ukulele, but that would be great.

Speaker 2:

I mean, I can still grab it right. Do Rage on the ukulele.

Speaker 8:

Speaker 8:

This is written to celebrate the death of Nixon. How cool, according to Zach, nixon did.

Speaker 2:

According to Zach Nixon knew no man.

Speaker 5:

You can't talk to Brad. I can't talk to Brad. No one knows who Brad is, man I love him.

Speaker 10:

He's beautiful. I can't get close to him. Shit man. Nixon. Knew man. I don't even know my political affiliation Shit Nixon knew what did he.

Speaker 8:

Speaker 8:

There's no ballads on this album.

Speaker 6:

Yeah.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, they don't have a ballad.

Speaker 8:

I think a ballad would have been a good idea now that I look back at the album, but that's not what they're about. Yeah, no, that won't be tolerated.

Speaker 1:

Let this be a reminder to you all that this organization will not tolerate failure.

Speaker 2:

Okay without a face, here we go.

Speaker 8:

I like the funky part of this. It's got a little jazz bass line.

Speaker 2:

You know, like Revolver, it's kind of like James Brown. There's like a James Brown kind of Quality to it.

Speaker 7:

I'm not a star ball. What Like in the face?

Speaker 2:

Fuck a cat.

Speaker 7:

You saw that what the hell was that, you little freckle face cartoon. Is that like a?

authoritarian movement, without maybe like China, I don't know, there's no real figurehead, but the war is on, yeah. Or war without a face, I don't know, maybe.

Speaker 7:

My age was all we needed to sustain our golden skin. First, you set the side right and that was DDT. Yeah, you know me. I'm great for the greats. Brought this with the bourgeoisie War. Take woman, pat this blue binoculars, I'm at it north, like my name was kids. Great for the greats. Brought this with the bourgeoisie.

Speaker 2:

One motive no hope War. Take woman.

Speaker 7:

I'm trying to breathe a wheelchair around my throat or I'll strangle the man who's a looch hacker since Kirk and Carl when I try to cross the white wall but if you don't change your face, I'm gonna change it for you.

Speaker 2:

The white wall what does he mean by white walls?

Speaker 8:

walk unseen past the graves, walk unseen the gates.

Speaker 2:

It's the graves and gates Graves and gates.

Speaker 8:

Hey, mitch, let's ask Mitch if he knows.

Speaker 10:

Hey Mitch, Could you do the rest of us a favor and leave through the gate and right field? I kind of like this guitar solo.

Speaker 2:

This is a great little In the bass line too, but on top, yes, and no cymbals for Paisa.

Speaker 10:

Symbols, symbols of the devil, the greatest trick the devil ever pulled was convincing the world he didn't exist.

Speaker 8:

Guys are so sick. You saw the movie right. Oh yeah, Prime genius, it's a weird drum. You say fortify reaction, you divide, Fight and conquer maybe. Yeah, Wow.

Speaker 2:

Jeez, do we need a palate cleanser? Are we good? It's too much authoritarianism. It's too, much Wow Okay.

Speaker 8:

Wind below, yeah, wind below Yep.

Speaker 2:

Let's go Next song Wind Below.

Speaker 12:

You know what I think? Man Like dang, I think that.

Speaker 2:

Put your hands together for the lovely Jasper. Can we get my $1 bills together for this?

Speaker 9:

Oh, now NAFTA, New disaster.

Speaker 2:

Disaster for the devil's mouth is man. This song, and this is outside of my skill set- Vultures playing markets. Wow, they play so well together. This is really hard to do all at the same time Right Individually.

Speaker 8:

So hit the lyrics, just right.

Speaker 2:

Not miss a note this whole time, like how he's so confident when he's singing.

Speaker 4:

That's a big part of it.

Speaker 2:

It's beyond just the lyrics.

Speaker 8:

There's a spirit, an authenticity behind the drive and Tom goes with these melodic dystopian effect guitar solos to actually mix it up and slow down the pace and sort of give a breather instead of double down. Yeah, on more thrasher heaviness, okay. Yeah, especially this. I like this a lot, man.

Speaker 12:

It's just, it ain't complicated you. You have a baby born into this world and they've got no goddamn friends and got nothing but to come in and find out all about them. Old evil man.

Speaker 8:

Old evil. Thank you, Brumauer, Tell us yeah tell us how it is, that's exactly what I was thinking oh, let's listen.

Speaker 10:

While the new trust is going to flex and cast their image in you.

Cake us up. It's like NPR Cake us up.

Speaker 9:

Yeah, man.

Speaker 8:

Disney bought the fantasies in piles of eyes.

Speaker 10:

And ABC's new thrill ride trials. They force our ears to go deaf to the screams in the south.

Speaker 7:

They force our ears to go deaf to the screams and the sound.

Speaker 2:

I got damn right, I did.

Speaker 7:

I'm sad to think that what?

Speaker 8:

like in the face. Shout to Fight Club, use your words. People, all right.

Speaker 2:

Let's roll.

Speaker 8:

Altercations. My boy's wicked smart, yeah, my boy's ex-wicked smart.

Speaker 2:

Oy, that was a little harsh on the ears. Getting a little Schmechtis build up, it might connect. Oh my God.

Speaker 8:

What the fuck is he talking about Exactly? Is this Mitch? Mitch has got to roll right after the authoritarian seniors. That's right. Are going to give them the paddling.

Speaker 10:

Hey, mitch, could you do the rest of us a favor and leave through the gate in right field. That'll draw them all out of here. I mean, they're going to get you anyway.

Speaker 8:

Segway Roll right Roll, right Roll right right Roll right.

Speaker 4:

Roll tide, but roll right. 1, 2, 1, 2. 1, two, one, two.

Speaker 9:

Speaker 7:

I need a dome Leg off the shop. My soul is shocking like Ellison. Mainline adrenaline. Gods of the ketamine For the basement I'm dwelling in. I'm cocked, fastened. Sling the donut settler, brace them all clean, cover the upset up. Here come the hands on the leashes. Is that a reference? Yes, so you will listen to every damn word. I have to say we're all right, we're all calm.

Speaker 8:

Speaker 6:

I like the face.

Speaker 8:

Really, saul, how you doing.

Speaker 7:

Hi, oh, hello.

Speaker 2:

Still can't hear it, even on the quiet part.

Speaker 7:

It's like oh hello, I can see the wild spark, fear like pigs in a park. Head cracked, I hijack the paper. The paper's caught. Fire up in your mind. Come back, rewind One time. Put your hands on the leash, the clock.

Speaker 6:

The capital, the pale families, the fear in their mouthpiece, the single sister lynch the.

Speaker 7:

The singles is the lich. The cell doors crash. The bass is from.

Speaker 9:

Echo.

Speaker 8:

Echo, echo, echo. I love the guitar. Echo, roll right, roll calm, roll right, roll calm. We're all calm here.

Speaker 4:

Speaker 2:

This is an example of a song where it's clicking with me right now.

Speaker 8:

Yeah, I like this one a lot. We're in the here and now here.

Speaker 2:

Roll right. I mean I'm not trying to be druggy or anything, but it's like roll right. It's four minutes and 20 seconds long, so there's like two drug references right there. Rolling doobies. I just noticed that I pass on grass. You gotta share Share.

Speaker 1:

I'm the head of an evil organization I don't share. Okay, you freaking idiot.

Speaker 9:

Okay.

Speaker 8:

I'm pretty sure it goes.

Speaker 3:

Come back. They go around again.

Speaker 10:

They just go round and round, round and round.

Speaker 8:

Music goes round and round In a good way. Goes round and round.

Speaker 2:

In a good way.

Speaker 1:

Are you some kind of freak?

Speaker 8:

Left-handed freak. Nobody's left-handed anymore. What's the rate? Let me look it up.

Speaker 2:

Hold on, wait walked right into that one I did. Oh, you did Good job, I like that.

Speaker 4:

Oh.

Speaker 12:

Oh, Boomhauer. Sorry, Bill, but I got to back a winner.

Speaker 7:

Sorry, Bill, but I got to back a winner.

Speaker 8:

We're on the home stretch here.

Speaker 2:

This is the last one Year of the boomerang. Ooh, this is a dark one. Talking about Dachau? Oh, that was different. Way beyond the scale, smell in the skin.

Speaker 12:

You think boom, howard Daniel. I think therefore you are. Yes, I thought, you said you know what I think.

Speaker 8:

Therefore, you are. Yes, I thought you said that.

Speaker 12:

You know what I think, man Daniel? I think, therefore, you are.

Speaker 6:

It's a little harsh.

Speaker 2:

It starts getting weird and funky. It straightens out.

Speaker 6:

I need an adult.

Speaker 7:

Oh, bitch, you got jacked, bitch Electroshock.

Speaker 8:

Curriculums for cell blocks.

Speaker 7:

I caught a little bit there.

Speaker 2:

Where's Docow? It's a prison camp, warlords.

Speaker 7:

Nazis.

Speaker 2:

Kill Jews Docow. Yeah, that's how they burn skin. We're not shit this is wild.

Speaker 10:

yeah, it is.

Speaker 2:

It's a serious song. We're all serious.

Speaker 7:

I think Boomhauer.

Speaker 2:

I think he would have. He's on our side For sure it's like dust in the wind. I think, therefore I how did it go?

Speaker 12:

Boom, howard. You know what I think, man? I think, therefore, you are.

Speaker 8:

I got no property. I think, therefore, you are, but I'm a piece of it.

Speaker 3:

In the year of the boomer, make me come back for them.

Speaker 8:

Boom rings, come back, that's right.

Speaker 1:

Honestly throw me a bone here.

Speaker 8:

Throw, boom rings yeah it's happening it's almost like they're going to go into another album, right like side four. Right right, here we go.

Speaker 6:

Ooh, oh, my gosh.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, you know they could have done without that last part. Yeah, whatever Should we.

Speaker 8:

It was a good song it rocked. That was yeah, yeah, boomhauer. What did you think about the album?

Speaker 12:

Man, it's just a dang old complicated. You know, man, it's like a dang old Rubik's Cube. Man. You're talking about blue, red man, then you get to one side and then you're messing up the other side.

Speaker 8:

Exactly.

Speaker 2:

He couldn't have said it any better.

Speaker 8:

I mean same wings to the same bird man. All right, that's right.

Speaker 2:

Okay, so we got to go top three. Are you ready? Oh, what do you think?

Speaker 8:

Yeah, I'm going roll right.

Speaker 2:

number three oh, good choice.

Speaker 8:

Yeah, it's got it going on. It's sort of a sleeper.

Speaker 2:

I like it a lot. I do too. I'm making that my three as well.

Speaker 3:

Yeah.

Speaker 2:

Roll right. Yeah, it really got me. You know, it's like I don't know just good stuff. I'll leave it at that.

Speaker 8:

All right, I'm going snake charmer Number two.

Speaker 2:

Really.

Speaker 8:

Yeah, it's, it was catchy oh very catchy. Oh yeah, it had a couple jazz chords in it, you know sort of jazzy, sort of rocky, very rocky, less jazzy, but yeah.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, it was funky, yeah, and I liked it for that same reason.

Speaker 8:

And angsty.

Speaker 2:

Right, yeah, yeah, it was kind of. It was like reminding me of what's his name. Living in America.

Speaker 8:

What's his name?

Speaker 2:

He's like dancing around. I feel good.

Speaker 8:

James Brown. He was quite a snake charmer.

Speaker 2:

He was. He was a snake charmer. Oh, that's Revolver.

Speaker 8:

Snake charmer, that's right.

Speaker 2:

That was a honorable mention. That's gonna be my number one. But um, but just yeah, I I roll right. Snake charmer. What's your number one?

Speaker 8:

um, I'm gonna go in revolver yeah yeah, I mean they put all their tracks, their strongest one, through five. They just do. I feel like Not always, at least in a lot of their albums they do, and a lot of those songs become hits. So and great album.

Speaker 2:

Yeah.

Speaker 8:

Little Kid Smirk is still just kind of sitting rent free in my brain, kind of freaking me out a little bit. But yeah good album. What's your number one?

Speaker 2:

I'm going to go with Down Rodeo. Oh nice, good choice. Yeah, I just think it's. I like how it's da-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na. I like you know, I like the. It's so like it's just so powerful it is. These people ain't seen a brown skin man since their grandparents bought one. That's pretty strong language, you know. That's like pretty, yeah, like yeah, not mincing words, you know, yeah. So you make a, you make a move and plead the fifth, cause you can't plead the first. That was kind of that's a cool line as well.

Speaker 8:

So it packs such. You know history and the constitution in these quick lines but you really have to think about it.

Speaker 3:

Yeah, Um very thought provoking.

Speaker 8:

And definitely encourage you know novice rage listeners to really yeah, very thought provoking and definitely encourage you know, novice rage listeners to really yeah, dig deep, really dig deeper and deeper into these lyrics. To you know, go go down the rabbit hole of knowledge. Yeah, it's just knowledge. Yeah, yeah, exactly.
